So my once mighty laptop ground to a halt this morning.  Not bad considering its nearly 3 years old and never had a rebuild.

I have lost a fair amount of data but managed to get operational.  Just a few little tweaks to go and I should be back in SL!

I will now have to go out and look for a new laptop, I don’t want to chance any more losses.  I had come to rely on this ones stability.  Fortunately I have an older laptop with I bust screen I could extract the drive from.  But like everything, I couldn’t find the driver disks and my nic wasn’t detected.  So I had to download the drivers using my PVR and the transfer them to my laptop (with the help of my ipod!).

Of course, now it is set up, I will be sure to mirror all data to my network drive.  the only thing I am really not happy about is all the custom fonts I have lost.

But lesson learned, remember folks, be sure to back up your data, frequently – XD.

So, I was reading so of the notcards at the PAO (People Against Oppression) main office in furfall.  One recommends googling yourself every once in a while.  Well I did!

My Results:

Not bad for the first 15 (well 16 because I removed something about Tuxedo’s).  The little ship ones are from Torley Linden’s Blog.  I made him a little avatar a long time ago – XD.  I also found chat logs from meetings I forgot I attended and loads more.

It is suprising really how much you forget.  But thanks to the wonders of the internet all those memories can be revived.

Thankfully I have never done anything really nasty, these things can come back and bite you!  If I ever get a moment I will google some random Avatar names just for giggles.  Of course, I wouldn’t be malicious, but I may IM the Avatar and say ‘hey, do you remember . . . .”, XD.

  • Not-So Breaking Nuze: Stolen Shit is #1 in Popularity at XStreetSL
It appears that Linden Lab’s sheer incompetence has come to (another) head. Some throwaway alt named Kristina Catronis is selling 230 Top-quality stolen dances, and now can also brag that she’s the top selling in SL, as “her” product has reached the #1 sales rank in XStreet.  Several sellers have claimed to have filed DMCAs several [...] […]
  • Modular Lua
I’m making some big changes behind the scenes in Lua. First of all, Lua modules (which bind Luna to Lua) are being broken up from one (SL) to many (Base, GL, Region are what have been completed so far).  This will aloow for faster development, as devs can work on their own modules without interfering with [...] […]
  • Call to Developers
Luna is in need of dire attention. Our build environment is clunky We need a new UI that will work in a multithreaded environment We need to fix the Lua event queue Both Luna plugins and Lua modules (LuaBitOp/LuaSocket/LuaExpat) need maintainers and integration with CMake We need to add and restructure Lua bindings with SL’s infrastructure Web apps are a bit […]
  • Luna website (mostly) online
http://luna.nexisonline.net/ Still working on the tag registration server so that client tags can be added/disabled automatically. The new theme is…. okay, still working on replacing logos and stuff. […]
  • FlexLife is now known as the Luna Viewer (Also 3PVP Update!)
Due to the fucking annoying 3rd Party Viewer Policy, we’re being forced to change name.  Although I wasn’t sure I would be able to complete any branding changes, Soft Linden announced  on OpenSource-Dev that their legal team is giving all 3rd party developers 3 months to complete changes to brandnames, documentation and code. Therefore, I’ve decided [...] […]
