Our sim: DISTURBED

Jan 262010

So, having  completed testing for alleged sim crashing (2 sim crashes – both  Linden issues) by GRPS, I have  now put the shop back.  Selling the usual products (mens & womens clothing, weapons, Quantum Products etc).  I have also added an offsim 360 degree 5 panel TV – just hit play on your media buttons.

Ok, it is very rare for me to check the search engine feedback (it is full of loads of unrelated data) but I took a little peek and a few stood out:

“tux winkler” is a linden

This is the funniest request ever.  Why? because everyone knows anyone who is a Linden has the surname Linden – XD.  I can assure you Tux Winkler is not a Linden.  Never has been, never will be!  I cannot say the same can be said for my RL persona – O.o’.  Seriously though, I don’t think there is a Tux Linden.  Personally, I would choose a calming name.  Something that wouldn’t encourage the griefers to play up.

quantini services

This is crazy, I hope it just stumbled on my site.  Quantinis is a name I made up for the particle orb I have on Quantum Terra in the cryo building.  This is basically fan art of Darling Brody’s Quantum Products.  And being a friends I would never ‘jump on her band wagon’.  Darling makes the best weapons hud (QHUD) in Second Life amoungst other things.  Check her out, and by all means visit the dome on Quantum Terra and check it out for yourself.

sl4 beta

SL4.me is my personal blog, why would it have a beta?  Maybe the search was aimed at GRPS?  I think this would return accurate results, I haven’t tried.  But it is of no concern, the game has one more testing phase to go through.  After a little bit of restructuring to the database because we want to run mirrors so solving any issues with servers going offline.  Keep your eyes on http://www.disturbed.me.uk for info on progress.

In todays world it is simple to see what is being said, asked and nearly thought of you.  I am pleased that when I google myself (Tux Winkler) the results are good.  I tried some other peoples names, and they have very bad comments.  I know, I know, it is how the search engines find you.  And I also know that people can write anything.   So with this in mind, why not try your own name.

*note: With regards to me being a Linden, if you google Tux Linden, I am sure I will show up, because I have used my name and Linden Labs as keywords, and have posted about Lindens.  So remember – Google is your friend, it can help you believe your fantasies – XD

Ok, as promised I would update you when I finished playing.

The performance testing on communications and in world data handling went well.  Although I think my HUD had a fault, in a few meaningless hours, I died 9 times (I have removed the 24hour action ban for testing).  I had successfully managed a kill (on an AFK player – Grrrrr).

So, did weapons use work in no build?  Yes, but there was a little script issue, which means every shot hits perfectly.  I will have to add a random factor, maybe that allows for skill ups over time.  I will have this and a few other factors integrated for the next release.  I am hoping the next is the final pre-release.

I would ask, please don’t kill me so much, I do get the impression there is a secret competition for the person with the most amount of creator kills.  XD.

The logging on the server side is running perfectly, and those who have access are impressed with the updates and accuracy of data.  However, I am building in a scalability option.  This will make it more simple in the future to cope with increased traffic.

Of course, none of this matters to you guys.  So far the comments are good, even the reseller scripts seem to be working.  These will have more testing before I can pass them off as finished products.

Work has started on the mage type weapons and the future ones too.

Also votes on wether the mafia/mob group should be divided into more classes (mafia, yardie, ghetto, chav, ruskie etc?) maybe we should have a minimum member for class type situation.  Please no more requests to test mafia themes, I have plenty in these roles.  Contact me for prefered testers roles.

Finally, the new animation ideas rock, I will put it to the ‘animator’ (haha he will love that)  to make sure they can be done.

PS.  Thanks to you guys for your testing and ideas.  The project is really flying because of you all.  And remember, votes on Alphas will be soon, so try to make friends, not enemies!

As if – XD

  • Not-So Breaking Nuze: Stolen Shit is #1 in Popularity at XStreetSL
It appears that Linden Lab’s sheer incompetence has come to (another) head. Some throwaway alt named Kristina Catronis is selling 230 Top-quality stolen dances, and now can also brag that she’s the top selling in SL, as “her” product has reached the #1 sales rank in XStreet.  Several sellers have claimed to have filed DMCAs several [...] […]
  • Modular Lua
I’m making some big changes behind the scenes in Lua. First of all, Lua modules (which bind Luna to Lua) are being broken up from one (SL) to many (Base, GL, Region are what have been completed so far).  This will aloow for faster development, as devs can work on their own modules without interfering with [...] […]

Therefore, I’ve decided [...] […]
