Our sim: DISTURBED

Nov 302009

I would like to thank the alt who is now permenantly banned for sending me a copy of the HUD texture I already own.  I have filed an abuse report and had you banned, I also happened to mention who I suspect.  There seems to be no end to this.

Seriously, if you are unable to create something for yourself, wait for its release.  I would even give you one free of charge if you are so desperate to have it.  (Unfortunately it would go black as you would be placed on the banned list – XD)

Thus I have replaced the HUD’s with simple arrows, which now have die code in.  Yes they die!  But not for long, a max of 10 seconds!  Also they are faster and there is now seven of them.  This new code also contains my anti script copy, which notifies the lindens if it detects copybot.  Or a permissions hack.

Anyways, the DISTURBED sim is coming along.  And hopefully will be up and running so I can shut down furfall soon!

Ok, as promised I would update you when I finished playing.

The performance testing on communications and in world data handling went well.  Although I think my HUD had a fault, in a few meaningless hours, I died 9 times (I have removed the 24hour action ban for testing).  I had successfully managed a kill (on an AFK player – Grrrrr).

So, did weapons use work in no build?  Yes, but there was a little script issue, which means every shot hits perfectly.  I will have to add a random factor, maybe that allows for skill ups over time.  I will have this and a few other factors integrated for the next release.  I am hoping the next is the final pre-release.

I would ask, please don’t kill me so much, I do get the impression there is a secret competition for the person with the most amount of creator kills.  XD.

The logging on the server side is running perfectly, and those who have access are impressed with the updates and accuracy of data.  However, I am building in a scalability option.  This will make it more simple in the future to cope with increased traffic.

Of course, none of this matters to you guys.  So far the comments are good, even the reseller scripts seem to be working.  These will have more testing before I can pass them off as finished products.

Work has started on the mage type weapons and the future ones too.

Also votes on wether the mafia/mob group should be divided into more classes (mafia, yardie, ghetto, chav, ruskie etc?) maybe we should have a minimum member for class type situation.  Please no more requests to test mafia themes, I have plenty in these roles.  Contact me for prefered testers roles.

Finally, the new animation ideas rock, I will put it to the ‘animator’ (haha he will love that)  to make sure they can be done.

PS.  Thanks to you guys for your testing and ideas.  The project is really flying because of you all.  And remember, votes on Alphas will be soon, so try to make friends, not enemies!

As if – XD

  • Not-So Breaking Nuze: Stolen Shit is #1 in Popularity at XStreetSL
It appears that Linden Lab’s sheer incompetence has come to (another) head. Some throwaway alt named Kristina Catronis is selling 230 Top-quality stolen dances, and now can also brag that she’s the top selling in SL, as “her” product has reached the #1 sales rank in XStreet.  Several sellers have claimed to have filed DMCAs several [...] […]
  • Modular Lua
I’m making some big changes behind the scenes in Lua. First of all, Lua modules (which bind Luna to Lua) are being broken up from one (SL) to many (Base, GL, Region are what have been completed so far).  This will aloow for faster development, as devs can work on their own modules without interfering with [...] […]

Our build environment is clunky We need a new UI that will work in a multithreaded environment We need to fix the Lua event queue Both Luna plugins and Lua modules (LuaBitOp/LuaSocket/LuaExpat) need maintainers and integration with CMake We need to add and restructure Lua bindings with SL’s infrastructure Web apps are a bit […]

  • FlexLife is now known as the Luna Viewer (Also 3PVP Update!)
Due to the fucking annoying 3rd Party Viewer Policy, we’re being forced to change name.  Although I wasn’t sure I would be able to complete any branding changes, Soft Linden announced  on OpenSource-Dev that their legal team is giving all 3rd party developers 3 months to complete changes to brandnames, documentation and code. Therefore, I’ve decided [...] […]
