What is SL4 Portal?

SL4 Portal is my personal blog. I am Tux Winkler, an avatar in Second Life. I am for the most part a friendly and helpful person. I use this blog to sound off about anything really.

Feel free to comment, I have set this to open. So no need to register! At the moment the majority of visitors comment via email, try clicking the blog title and leaving a comment - its easy peasy!

I thought it would be nice to show the stats for the JLU wiki.  See Image:

Quite high traffic for a simple wiki.  Maybe people are downloading the entire thing, idk.  Or maybe lots of people are visiting.  I am only monitoring the data transfered.  I am not interested in  who visits, or what their IP is, or browser, or even OS.  The visitors are not recorded!

Anyway, the server is experiencing random attacks.  All of which are minor.  It is a slight pain in the proverbial, because it puts extra load on the server.  No big problem, just slows the response down a little.  Seriously, for a group who’s ideals are based on justice, FTP attempts, secret wiki’s, RL info’s, multiple in game offences and web server attacks?  What next?  Bubblegum in my door locks?  JLU stickers on my cars?  Please.

NOTE:  It is possible the JLU is not reponsible for the attempts on this  server, but, it started when they found the wiki and has been escalating since.  I suppose it is possibly my stalker (who is the lamest ever), but I haven’t heard from him in a while and he has trouble tying his shoelaces. It is probable it is the JLU members.

Since the release of the wiki, my hosting of it, and the failed DMCA.  There has been a lot of speculation as to who I am, etc etc.  So thanks for the emails, IM’s, PM’s, Notecards and passing voice comments.  Here is the most complete list of what I am not:

  • A Linden (that would make me Tux Linden, right?)
  • A Griefer (they are usually only a few days old)
  • A Nazi (I don’t think SL was around during WWII)
  • A JLU Member (it is not a ploy to raise awareness)
  • A Communist (idk much about politics, really)
  • A Policeman (my knowledge of the law is through my solicitor)
  • An Eccentric Millionaire (If I was would I be playing this?)
  • An FBI spy (We don’t have FBI in my country, and do they spy?)
  • An ALT of one of the griefer leaders (nope, Tux is a main account)
  • A Reporter (just look at my typos and the way I speak, lol)
  • A Psychologist (I assure I am not – XD)
  • A Keyboard Warrior (not so, I defended the DMCA claim in RL)
  • A Member of a new Linden investigation team (XD)
  • A Religious Nut (Although I have spoken about religion, I do try to keep it to myself)
  • A Hacker (LOL)
  • ‘Thats the one who attacked the JLU and hacked their server, they say he is one of the best in Russia!’ (OMFG, this was on voice, I saw the cams on me and moved my cam to them, I could not believe this – XD)

So thanks  for these (I have probably missed some) but they are entertaining all the same!

Peace and Love!

Tired of having head in code, was I.  I figured I would play GRPS (Generic Role Play System) for a bit.

The last time I used this avatar I was blasted all over Quantum (take a look at my youtube video for proof).  I thought this time I would have an advantage, not only have I written the game but I have ‘GOD MODE’.   Hahahaha, so I didn’t get killed, yay!

Anyways, here is a screen shot which sends a message out on so many levels.  Also note I am using the FlexLife viewer with Lua which rocks!

It is late and I am tired, so I will make this quick – XD.

The following is the latest crazy searches which send people to my blog:

  • “Tux Winkler” griefer
  • Is Tux Winkler a linden or griefer
  • Tux Winkler PN
  • SL4 Portal Griefers
  • Copybot Tux Winkler
  • Tux Content Theft
  • tux winkler real life info
  • where does tux winkler  live
  • griefing scripts tux winkler
  • disturbed linden
  • linux hack script tux winkler
  • sl4 portal running linux  on windows vista

As you can see, someone really wants to  know about me – Awwwww.

But by far the funniest for me is the last one.  Someone really doesn’t grasp linux (and I know there are some distros that will install alongside windows, but I choose to ignore them).  For me Linux is a replacement for windows!  Anyways I am off to bed, got snow to play in in the morning!

Sometimes you laugh so hard you feel like you are about to explode.  Things that make us feel like this can differ immensly.  For me, I find a little computer knowledge highly funny.  I mean people who have a little knowledge and talk as if they know it all.

So, this is today’s side splitting email (from contact form):

yo bitch i made an account an u banned me.  u better let me see what shit u f*****rs r writing about me or i promise u this i will hack ur webserver

ur pwned

Brilliant right?  Let me break it down:

Nov 282009

So the latest attempt to stop production of GRPS has shown its ugly head.  Last night a DOS (Denial Of  Service) was launched against one of my servers.  No major headache, a few simple changes has prevented damage and the website users will have only noticed a brief slow down.

To the person who instigated this:  Remember griefer, you only get what you can afford and sitting in your little wooden house in some backwards slum in North Carolina, I am guessing your funds are quite low.

There is a couple of things that have stopped working, but those affected have been notified and will have services restored as soon as possible.

As soon as I get to it, I will have everything setup on the DISTURBED sim and send out links as required.

Finally do not forget I have a 1000L$ prize to give away for the funniest conversation with ‘Disturbed Warden’ my receptionist bot!

  • Not-So Breaking Nuze: Stolen Shit is #1 in Popularity at XStreetSL
It appears that Linden Lab’s sheer incompetence has come to (another) head. Some throwaway alt named Kristina Catronis is selling 230 Top-quality stolen dances, and now can also brag that she’s the top selling in SL, as “her” product has reached the #1 sales rank in XStreet.  Several sellers have claimed to have filed DMCAs several [...] […]
  • Modular Lua
I’m making some big changes behind the scenes in Lua. First of all, Lua modules (which bind Luna to Lua) are being broken up from one (SL) to many (Base, GL, Region are what have been completed so far).  This will aloow for faster development, as devs can work on their own modules without interfering with [...] […]
