Our sim: DISTURBED

Mar 142010

Ok, let me start off by saying I spend a fair amount of time around SL, but I love the sandboxes.  I love creativity and watching the masses of variety pass through.  Now, unlike others comments of masses of griefers, their is hardly any.  Of course a few cagers (but nothing serious).  Now, today I was wlking along when an automated cannon thing began shooting me.  No big deal, I surrounded it with a sphere and did a few scripts I have been wanting to try.  For containing such things.

I then removed my prims and stood back.  You see the ANN turned up.  Just a part of the Superhero themed ‘anti-griefers’.  Once again, no problem.  I figured they would come in contain and AR.  Maybe two of them.  Thats how it started, with three of them:

Wow, time runs away with me lately and before I notice I have missed loads.  So I figured I would tell you whats been going on:

GRPS – Generic Role Play – As requested I have been rewriting to change the meters, within the game.  At present the working of a random seed is to be included, for example:  Your character is a street thug in a cyberpunk era.  You go to mug someone.  Would you get all their money?  Not always, they may have hidden some in their sock.  So the random seed factor creeps in.  Also, the new version is trailing more server side calculations to prevent cheating.  This will enable us to distribute weapons/addon scripts easier too.  So unfortunately GRPS will stay in alpha, but I am allowing extra testers so those of you who applied for the beta will be bought on in alpha – YAY.

DISTURBED – Removed the big shop.  Created a weapons shop and a photo studio.  There is also a woodland and cave.  Its crazy the number of times I change it, I know.  But although a few people are not so happy at losing the clothing, I feel it isn’t justifying itself.

FLEXLIFE – Ok, here is the thing, LL release 3PVP statingthe viewer cannot have life in it.  Great, thanks.  So currently changes are being implemented to become a new name:

Luna

I actually think this is a good thing.  A very dear person says ‘A change is as good as a move!’.  So, despite the pain in the preverbial, rebranding goes on.  Fred works his nuts off, and should slow down a little.  But he wont – XD.  Still excited about the new name and release.  I am going to start on the Lua/Luna wiki.  So finding out commands is as simple as using the wiki.  The support ticket is going up too.  As is the website.  The features are massive with Lua.  Watch the official blog (when its up fully):

http://luna.nexisonline.net

So thats it, up to date.  Sorry for missing so much.  Here are a few of your questions answered:

Q. Hey dude, you been arrested or something?
A. Nope, still here =)

Q. The JLU got you banned?
A. Nope, still here =)

Q. Why no posts?  Is something wrong?
A. Nope, still here =)

Q. Do you have an answer to the question?
A. 42.

I thought it would be nice to show the stats for the JLU wiki.  See Image:

Quite high traffic for a simple wiki.  Maybe people are downloading the entire thing, idk.  Or maybe lots of people are visiting.  I am only monitoring the data transfered.  I am not interested in  who visits, or what their IP is, or browser, or even OS.  The visitors are not recorded!

Anyway, the server is experiencing random attacks.  All of which are minor.  It is a slight pain in the proverbial, because it puts extra load on the server.  No big problem, just slows the response down a little.  Seriously, for a group who’s ideals are based on justice, FTP attempts, secret wiki’s, RL info’s, multiple in game offences and web server attacks?  What next?  Bubblegum in my door locks?  JLU stickers on my cars?  Please.

NOTE:  It is possible the JLU is not reponsible for the attempts on this  server, but, it started when they found the wiki and has been escalating since.  I suppose it is possibly my stalker (who is the lamest ever), but I haven’t heard from him in a while and he has trouble tying his shoelaces. It is probable it is the JLU members.

The idea behind these music videos is a finale to the week.  If possible the video should sum up the week.  So this week I have been served a take down because Kalel Venkman of the JLU in Second Life filed a DMCA against me for hosting the leaked JLU wiki.  I contested of course.  And my host looked at the facts and decided they would not take the site down, nor would they get involved.  This was great news, no Google-China issues going on here.  Anyways, I watched hours of JLU music videos before deciding on this one.

Before I start, I would just like to say thanks to Kalel for showing me the truth.  I normally place a more tag into my blog, but this one will be in full.  Comment if you like.

Ok, so there I was in Sandbox Island (NO COMBAT), I was in IM and minding my own business (tbh, I am having work done on my exchange and have a really bad connection atm).  When all of a sudden I had an alert from my QHUD:

[20:31:31]  quantum core: 2010-02-05 04:31:50 : Kalel Venkman USED PHYSICAL SCRIPTED blaster ball in Sandbox Island

Of course the name rang a bell.  Was it a bird?  Was it a plane?  No it was just another avatar breaking the rules by using weapons on Sandbox Island.  Of course, I followed the correct procedure and filed an Abuse Report:

That done, I then proceeded to IM Kalel and tell him/her not to shoot me.  Here is the chat log:

– Instant message logging enabled –
[20:35:36]  Tux Winkler: Do not shoot at me
[20:36:07]  Kalel Venkman: The utility is a little less controllable than I thought.
[20:36:25]  Tux Winkler: your weapon?  why call it utility?
[20:36:51]  Kalel Venkman: It’s not intended for use on people – it’s intended to push physical objects off the sim.
[20:37:18]  Tux Winkler: you of all people should know not to fire a weapon on SI
[20:38:27]  Kalel Venkman: It was an unintentional effect.
[20:40:36]  Tux Winkler: it is still assult, if anyone else had so much as rezzed a popgun they would have recieved an AR if seen by the JLU
[20:44:32]  Tux Winkler: I am guessing your presence here was to report the unscripted prim litter of the sand box, and the beams of light, but especially the JLU fanart that hovers in the sky.  I also guess, the usual prcess of JLU will take turns in coming and reporting.  Will they also attempt to shoot at me?
[20:45:43]  Kalel Venkman: Primarily the heavy prim litter.  The fan art doesn’t concern us, as the web site it points to is being destroyed by British authorities as we speak.
[20:46:16]  Tux Winkler: really?
[20:46:31]  Kalel Venkman: Yeah, I have to say, I agree with you on the litter blasters – very random.  I probably shouldn’t be using them.
[20:47:03]  Kalel Venkman: Um, yeah.
[20:47:17]  Kalel Venkman: The Brits are very sympathetic.
[20:47:50]  Tux Winkler: Superman has power in the UK also?
[20:47:56]  Kalel Venkman: Uh huh.
[20:48:01]  Kalel Venkman: And lots of other places.
[20:48:17]  Tux Winkler: *ooc: you are role playing right?
[20:48:42]  Kalel Venkman: Um – no, I’m not – I’m having web sites removed in various countries.
[20:49:38]  Tux Winkler: Right, and please explain how you have arrange for the British Authorities to destroy my server?
[20:49:56]  Kalel Venkman: Very simple.
[20:49:59]  Kalel Venkman: I said please.
[20:50:00]  Kalel Venkman: Ah, so it’s yours.
[20:50:11]  Kalel Venkman: You’ll have to look up the rest.
[20:50:20]  Tux Winkler: Will the secret service raid my datacentre and plant c4 under it?
[20:50:39]  Kalel Venkman: I think you should probably read up on United Kingdom copyright law.
[20:50:49]  Kalel Venkman: You happen to be in gross violation of it.
[20:51:04]  Kalel Venkman: Assuming that’s actually you.
[20:51:07]  Tux Winkler: no, I do not, I have broke no law =)
[20:51:27]  Kalel Venkman: Yup.  You have some reading to do, all right.
[20:51:34]  Kalel Venkman: Have a good evening.
[20:52:10]  Tux Winkler: BTW, I will not remove a customers data, and I will contest your copyright claim.
[20:52:39]  Kalel Venkman: Good luck with that.
[20:52:44]  Kalel Venkman: It’s being removed anyway.
[20:53:03]  Kalel Venkman: You don’t get a vote here.
[20:53:35]  Tux Winkler: Ok, when the request comes in, it will be reviewed as does every other allegation.
[20:53:39]  Tux Winkler: a vote?
[20:53:50]  Kalel Venkman: That’s right – the takedown is mandatory.
[20:54:03]  Kalel Venkman: You really REALLY need to read up on the laws that affect you.
[20:54:16]  Kalel Venkman: I’m really surprised you don’t know this stuff if you’re in business doing it.
[20:55:22]  Tux Winkler: No, at worst I can recieve a request to freeze on the subdomain, then I will contest.  The ball is in your court to prove you have IP on the superhero stuff and the chat logs of others. XD
[20:56:06]  Kalel Venkman: To contest, you have to prove you own the material instead of me.  That’s the only valid terms for contesting the takedown.
[20:56:10]  Kalel Venkman: Which you won’t be able to do.
[20:56:31]  Kalel Venkman: Have a good one.
[20:56:42]  Tux Winkler: No I  dont, you have to prove you own it in order to force my hand, which will be impossible.  In the US a takedown may be used to prevent the truth.  But in the UK you have to prove you own the material and have a right to demand a takedown.  One look at your log will prove you don’t – XD
[20:59:51] Tux Winkler: Muted yet?

Ironically I was quite enjoying this little chat.  I am now thoroughly conviced these threats have nothing to do with copyright, but it is a method of speedy removal.

So the moral of this story is this:

‘If you find yourself on Sandbox Island, do not draw a weapon unless you wear you panties on the outside and role play a comic character!’

I request that all readers AR every member of the JLU when seen in PG sims for indecent exposure, because they are displaying their underwear (thanks DB).

Oh the fan art:

I didn’t bother looking who made it, because I was laughing to much.  I hope to see these popping up all over – XD

Finally, I would like to say this.  I do not really know the whole story about this wiki, and I haven’t the time to read it.  So why am I involved I hear you ask?  Well simply because I have been attacked and threatened in SL and RL.  But the difference is, with me, its water off a ducks back.  I have had a stalker for ever who’s common tactic is defamation and threats.  So a few cartoon hero’s do not really bother me.  Be warned though Kalel, this unhealthy behaviour is bordering on obsession.  Refocus and gain some dignity.

I have included a video I found of you when you were happier – check yourself!

The Justice League Uncovered (deliberate typo) has been compiling a detailed wiki called brainiac for a long time.  This wiki contains information taken from Second Life.  Information which is highly conroversial in its use.  The JLU has branded many people griefers unjustly.  They have also scurried around like rats in the sewers, to find peoples Real Life information and posted it to this wiki.  This is, in fact, against the law here (in the UK) and in many states in the US.  It is seen as hate crime and incitement.  Wow, all this from a bunch of ‘Superheros’ – XD.
